Zhongyao’s practice spans digital video, installation, sculpture, and text. Grounded in historical research and material experimentation, she constructs a working methodology that integrates rational structure with intuitive sensibility. Her digital video works explore the liminal space between reality and fiction, employing non-linear narratives and experimental texts to build a speculative and poetic visual language—interrogating the relationships between body and world, interior and exterior, vision and perception.
Her installations and sculptures engage deeply with her digital practice, translating elements from 3D modeling—such as floating, clipping, wireframes, and their intangible qualities—into metaphors of form and space. Through the use of translucent materials like silicone and resin, she brings virtual traces into the palpable reality, triggering an embedded dialogue across media.
Through processes of translation and reassembly, Zhongyao imbues familiar subjects with new perceptual dimensions. Tactility and imagination transcend the boundaries imposed by social conventions, traditional disciplines, and patriarchal narratives, empowering the viewer to reclaim the agency to interpret material and media.
Her work has been shortlisted for the 2025 Lumen Prize and has been exhibited internationally at venues including the Venice Arsenale, TANK Shanghai, Shanghai Himalayas Museum, and FUJI FILM X-SPACE.

王钟垚的创作跨越数字影像、装置、雕塑与文字。她以历史研究及材料实验为基础，构建起理性结构与感性直觉并存的工作框架。她的数字影像探索真实与虚构的临界，以非线性叙事和实验文本，构筑思辨而诗意的影像语言，追问身体与世界、内在与外在、灵视与感知的关系。
她的装置与雕塑创作同数字实践相互渗透，将三维建模中的悬浮、穿模、布线及其不可触摸的特质，转化为形体与空间的隐喻，并经由硅胶、树脂等半透明实体材料，将虚拟痕迹引入可感现实，激发媒介间的嵌套对话。
经由转译与重组，她为熟悉事物赋予新的感知维度，触觉与想象力亦逾越社会、传统规训与父权叙事的边界，赋予观者重新解读材料媒介的自由。
她的作品入围2025年流明奖，展出于威尼斯军械库、油罐艺术中心、上海喜马拉雅美术馆、XSPACE富士影像共享空间等地。
